Affordable childcare

Making things easier

We understand how expensive it is to raise children and we aim to help parents as much as possible when it comes to enjoying affordable childcare.

If you recommend a friend to Northfield Under 5’s Nursery who then signs up their child, you will receive £50 off your first nursery fees or a free administration fee. Please contact the nursery for full terms and conditions.

Funded early years entitlement

Funded early years entitlement

We offer funded childcare and education for two to four-year-olds in line with government guidelines. All children aged three and above currently receive 30 hours of free childcare a week. Some two-year-olds are also eligible for free childcare and you can find out more about this on the government’s website, through the council or by giving us a call directly.

Eligibility for the Funded Early Education Entitlement Funding applies from the first term after your child’s third birthday and lasts until the last term before they begin school.

Childcare vouchers

Childcare vouchers help working parents with the cost of nursery and are a tax efficient means of funding fees.

Under the scheme, each parent can opt to receive up to £243 a month from their employer as a tax-free childcare voucher. In a two-parent family, this equates to £5,382 a year, and offers savings of £1,866 over the course of the year.

These are an employer supported benefit currently, which means you can only obtain the vouchers if your employer currently runs a childcare voucher scheme or is prepared to do so as part of a ‘salary sacrifice’ package.

Childcare element of working tax credits

Parents may also find that they are eligible to receive government help with childcare costs through the Working Tax Credit System. The amount you would receive if eligible depends on your circumstances, but you must be in paid employment for at least 16 hours per week.

The credit can cover as much as 70% of your childcare costs, so it is well worth investigating. You can find out more online: https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/tax-credits
